L.M. Montgomery documented her life through diaries and journals, and she also kept scrapbooks. These scrapbooks give us tremendous insight into what captivated Maud–things she considered worthy of pasting into an album as a memento of an occasion or item of personal interest.

What treasures and bits of ephemera did Maud paste into her scrapbooks?

Pictures of cats (… lots of cats!), fashions, and flowers. Snippets of fabrics, dried flowers, and little tufts of fur neatly tied with a ribbon. Newspaper clippings, invitations, and ticket stubs. If it was meaningful to Maud, she kept the souvenir and put it in a scrapbook. The images presented on this page are actual pages from two of her scrapbooks.
